Are you the person who will join us in taking our leading and patented mobile identity verification solution ReadID to the next level? Our licence agreements are key to our success. As our Legal Contract Manager, your primary role is to negotiate SaaS contracts with customers worldwide, working closely with sales and making sure they are fair and comply with (local) laws, especially data privacy laws. You basically handle both the contract manager responsibilities and the more legal aspects. Secondary responsibilities are maintaining standardised T&Cs for ReadID, negotiating contracts with our suppliers/partners and function as general counsel for Inverid.

Our customers include banks such as ING, Rabobank and ASB Bank (New Zealand), government agencies such as UK Home Office and the Danish Digital Agency, and digital online/signature services from Itsme, SK ID Solutions and Digidentity.

Inverid is growing fast and with our new headquarters in Enschede. Besides Enschede, we have offices in London and Valencia. Inverid currently has around 65 employees with 15 different nationalities. The working language within Inverid is English.

Your Job

You are our lead for all legal and contract aspects for our ReadID (SaaS) agreements, doing complex negotiations with large customers such as banks and governments, but also with resellers and smaller customers. The challenge is in keeping them close to our T&Cs/templates, to keep our business scalable, and to keep the contracts fair. Challenges are often in liability, data privacy, and ensuring that our contracts with the customers matches the subcontracts.

You work closely with sales and our CRO for new customers, our Services Director for existing customers and the CEO for the T&Cs/templates. You report to the CEO.

  • Maintain T&Cs and templates for the various ReadID products (SaaS, Ready, client-only).

  • You take responsibility for the legal aspects of contract negotiations with customers and resellers, including liabilities, IPR and data privacy. These are both the initial negotiations as well as amendments, for example, to cover changing regulations. Working with the sales lead or account manager for the commercial aspects of the contract negotiations, or with CEO for major contracts.

  • Negotiate contracts with important partners/suppliers that we include in our product, i.e., these are subcontractors. These are a handful but crucial contracts for us.

  • Liaising with external expertise on laws and regulations, e.g. privacy issues. Most of our customers are in regulated industries or are governments, and you work with the Compliance Officer to make sure this is properly addressed in our contracts and T&Cs.

  • Organising the contract update cycle / contract management.

  • Function as general counsel for Inverid, hiring specific legal expertise when needed.

  • You work at least three days a week in our office in Enschede.

What do you bring?

  • Relevant Bachelor or Master education in Law. Alternately, a degree related to SaaS services complemented with proveable contract & privacy law expertise is possible.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in negotiating software or SaaS contracts, including data privacy, under Dutch or EU law.

  • You have a basic understanding of cybersecurity, identity verification and SaaS services, including the technology, the relevant regulations (e.g., eIDAS, DORA) and certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2).

  • Proven and in-depth knowledge of privacy legislation, especially in Europe.

  • Ability to work independent.

  • Good command of the English language. Dutch is preferred but not mandatory.
